Jan. 27, 2025 (STROUD, Okla.) – The owner of a historic Oklahoma cattle ranch operated by the same family for almost 97 years will look to sell the property at auction in mid-March.
Wirt Trawick was just a toddler when his father established the Trawick Ranch in 1928. After 94 years on the ranch, including a long run as the property’s current owner, Mr. Trawick has decided the time is finally right for a sale.
For nearly a century – and in addition to its sizable 1,900± acres – the Trawick Ranch was known for its Hereford cattle, its ample water supply and its excellent hunting ground in Lincoln County.
“Wirt has so many memories of his life on the ranch riding horses, running cattle, farming and also enjoying it for recreation such as hunting and fishing. He even helped his father create a lot of the ranch’s features you see today,” said United Country Real Estate | Bendele Co LLC Broker/Owner Brian Bendele. Bendele plans to hold the Trawick auction with his father Mike, along with John and Justin Ball of Ball Auction Service. Both companies are based in Chandler, Okla.
Scheduled for Saturday, March 15 at 10 a.m., the auction will be structured as a no-reserve real estate auction with the Central Oklahoma ranch being sold in part or in full to the highest bidders. There are 16 separate parcels of land available and each tract ranges from 40-160 acres. Bendele said the idea is to give buyers the opportunity to purchase individual tracts, groups of tracts or even the entire Trawick Ranch.
Throughout the ranch, there’s ample natural beauty and an unmistakable feeling of serenity. Rolling hills, wooded areas, creeks and stocked fishing ponds define the rural landscape and multiple spots exist to build private homesites. Many tracts feature outbuildings, corrals and fencing; “Tract 10” offers all of this, along with a four-bedroom, two-bath home.
Besides its very productive native and improved grasslands, the Trawick Ranch stands out for its recreational and hunting opportunities with abundant wildlife in the area. Additionally, the Stroud location is only an hour northeast of Oklahoma City and less than an hour southwest of Tulsa, Okla. — putting the convenience of urban amenities just a short drive away.
