May 20, 2022 (HARRISON and YELLVILLE, Ark.) – Danny and Tammie Roth of United Country | Roth Realty in Harrison, and Billy Baker of Yellville-based United Country | BBB Realty were recently named inaugural inductees into United Country Real Estate’s Hall of Fame.
For all three, the honor was decades in the making — in some ways, twice as long as their careers. When they jumped into the real estate business in the mid-1970s, eventual husband and wife Danny and Tammie, and Baker (Tammie’s cousin) were about to continue a family legacy that dated back at least 90 years.
United Country was known as United Farm Agency when founded by Roscoe L. Chamberlain in 1925, and Tammie and Baker’s great grandfather J.P King soon signed on as the second office in what would one day grow to be a network eclipsing more than 400 offices nationwide. Other family members followed in his footsteps.
“This is unquestionably the highest honor in our 45 years in business,” said Tammie Roth. “It is especially important because it also honors our great grandparents, J.P. and Edith King, and D.O. and Della Dennis, and my grandparents, Forest and Clara King, who were all involved from the beginning.”
Until United Country’s annual convention in Florida this spring where the Roths and Baker were honored, the Hall of Fame did not exist.
“We decided the time was long overdue to celebrate some of those who helped make United Country what it is today,” said company president Mike Duffy. “There may be no better example than Danny, Tammie and Billy when it comes to people who live and breathe the United Country brand and really understand the business of lifestyle and rural real estate. They’re truly part of the backbone of this industry.”
In part because the Hall of Fame wasn’t created until this year, neither the Roths nor Baker had any clue they were about to be announced as the inaugural inductees.
All three real estate professionals saw their share of career highlights over the years. The Roths had the second-ranked real estate office in the nation in 1989. Likewise, Baker has been named a top 10 national office and he led the country in listings one year. But despite their accomplishments, what stands out most to these three after four-and-a-half decades are the personal connections they’ve made along the way.
“Tammie and I are blessed by the friendships we’ve made within the company,” Danny said, pointing to former United Country owners Lou Francis, Carl Hopkins and Don Sprague, as well as current owners Dan and Mike Duffy. “Their sound advice and support have been invaluable to our success.”
Baker shared the sentiment. “This is an honor that tops all others for my family and our predecessors in this business,” he said. “I am most proud of my loyalty to and longevity with United Country and my association with all these great men and women … from those who came before us to present-day leadership taking us to new horizons.”
